Warranty
For every watch sold by Laikma.lt, we provide a 24-month warranty from the date of purchase. It covers manufacturing defects, i.e., faults resulting from production errors or defective materials.
What is covered
- Free warranty repair when a manufacturing defect is identified.
- Replacement with another watch or a refund if the watch is irreparable.
- You contact us directly, and we handle the entire process, striving to resolve it as quickly as possible.
- Repairs are performed by a qualified watchmaker.
What is not covered
- Normal wear and tear: scratched glass, worn-off coating, discoloration of the bracelet or strap, cracks in a leather strap.
- Mechanical damage resulting from dropping, impact, or broken glass.
- Chemical damage: cosmetics, perfumes, cleaning agents, oxidation due to sweat.
- Water damage caused by exceeding the watch's specified water resistance level.
- Faults due to improper or careless use.
- Watches that have been repaired or opened in a location other than one specified by us.
- Time inaccuracies that do not exceed the manufacturer's permitted limits (see below).
Permissible operational margins
No watch operates with absolute precision. Every movement has a manufacturer-specified permissible margin, and if a watch gains or loses time within these limits, it is not a defect. Indicative limits:
| Movement | Indicative margin |
|---|---|
| Quartz | approx. −15 / +20 sec. per month |
| Mechanical and automatic | approx. −20 / +40 sec. per day |
The exact limit depends on the specific movement and its manufacturer. Some movements are significantly more accurate than others. For example, watches with a chronometer certificate (COSC) are allowed a margin of only a few seconds per day, while the limit for some simpler automatic movements is wider than indicated in the table. Therefore, these figures are only approximate.
The accuracy of an automatic watch also depends on wearing activity and its position at night. Please wear the watch for at least 3 days in a row before assessing its accuracy.
If it seems that your watch is gaining or losing too much time, write to us and specify the model. We will check the manufacturer's specified tolerance for that movement and let you know if it is normal.
Water resistance
The marking does not refer to the depth to which you can dive. It is a pressure test under laboratory conditions.
| Marking | What is allowed |
|---|---|
| 3 ATM / 30 M | Rain, hand washing. Do not swim. |
| 5 ATM / 50 M | Daily contact with water. Showering is not recommended. |
| 10 ATM / 100 M | Suitable for swimming. Do not dive. |
| 20 ATM / 200 M | Suitable for swimming and diving. |
- Before contact with water, ensure the crown is firmly pushed in or screwed down.
- Do not operate the crown or buttons while the watch is wet.
- After contact with saltwater, rinse immediately with fresh water and dry off.
- Do not leave in the sun or wear in a sauna. Do not submerge a hot watch in water, as this compromises the case's seal.
The inside of the watch contains air with a certain level of humidity, not a vacuum. Therefore, after a sudden change in temperature, for example moving from a warm room to the cold outdoors in winter, moisture may condense under the glass. This is a normal physical phenomenon and has nothing to do with the quality of the watch. Once the internal and external temperatures equalize, the moisture evaporates within approximately 20 minutes. If the moisture persists longer, it is a sign that the hermetic seal is compromised; in that case, please contact us.
Care and maintenance
- A metal bracelet and a water-resistant case can be cleaned with soapy water and a soft brush, then carefully dried with a microfiber cloth.
- Do not clean a leather strap with water. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Leather does not like moisture, sweat, or direct sunlight.
- If the watch is not water-resistant, avoid moisture completely and clean only with a dry cloth.
- Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, and cosmetics.
- Keep away from magnets: speakers, refrigerator doors, handbag clasps.
- Do not change the date manually between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM, as the automatic date change is in progress and you may damage the movement.
- Do not use excessive force when pulling the crown. Turn the hands in the normal direction when setting the time.
- Check the seals of a water-resistant watch annually.
- In a quartz watch, if the second hand starts jumping every 4 seconds, replace the battery immediately, as a fully depleted battery may leak and damage the movement.
